" Agathea "

Agathea (born Agata Kaczuk in 1969 at Jagielnik, Poland) is a painter. She graduated from the Fine Arts High School in Szczecin (1990) and the Poznań Academy of Fine Arts (currently, the University of Arts) where she studied between 1991 and 1996. Upon graduation, she worked as a graphic designer at an advertising agency, and was busy bringing up her son, but she never gave up painting.

Since 2010, she has devoted all her time to easel painting. Also since 2010, she has often shown her works at joint and solo exhibitions, including such venues as the Salon Jesienny in Gorzów Wlkp., Sztuka w hali and Filharmonia Gorzowska. Her works have also featured in calendars for the communes of Kłodawa and Deszczno, and for the Kostrzyń-Słubice Special Economic Zone. She is among the most active artists of the Gorzów art scene, which is attested by both her past exhibition appearances and by her exhibition plans for the forthcoming year.

“Agathea’s paintings stem from her fascination with the ambient world” – writes Andrzej Haegenbarth. “The paintings use dynamic brush strokes and usually maintain easily readable object references to the external reality, allowing the viewer to recognise the flowers, still lives, architecture and landscapes shown. It is intimate painting, based on emotions, and processing closer and more distant realities into works of art.”
